Summer has come to the island, and there's no mistake. Fields are gold, forests are green. Foals have grown large and are now able to feed themselves. The sun shines bright in the sky.
Brighter.
And brighter.
And brighter.
Soon, the lack of rain begins to show. The rivers leave first, their happy gurgles becoming rare. Mountains no longer hide behind clouds and clumps of snow, and their dry crags are now revealed to parched valleys below. The warm ocean waves are no longer relieving; instead, the waves add unwelcome humidity to the little ocean community.
Why has Dei not yet rid the isle of this unbearable heat? No one can find her to reveal the answer. The goddess of the morn has disappeared, and her homeland is dying in her absence.
How many horses have died by now? How many foals?
When will it stop?
